Altar Server Practice:  There will be a special practice session with the new and old altar servers on next Thursday, October 2nd at 7.00 p.m.in Glinsk church.  

 

Holy Communion to the Sick and Housebound:  Fr. John will take Holy Communion to the sick and housebound at the usual times on next Thursday, 2nd October.  

 

Elphin Diocesan Parish Development & Renewal gathering will take place in Boyle on Saturday, October 18th.  All parishes are encouraged to have representation.  For more details, see www.elphindiocese.ie/gathering

 

Glinsk School Mass:  Mass will be celebrated in Glinsk N.S. school hall on this Monday, 29th September, feast day of St. Michael the archangel, at 11.00 a.m.  All are welcome!   

 

Mass Servers: We welcome the following new Mass servers to the Mass serving group. Eimear Keane, Tegan Neary, Cormac Trayers, Sarah Jane Trayers, Gabrielle Kilcommons, Ciara O’ Neill and Aoibhe Brennan. We thank the Mass servers who have retired for their dedication and commitment to the church and wish them all the best for the future.

 

Vigil For peace - Sligo Cathedral:  A 24 hour Eucharistic Vigil will take place in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at Sligo Cathedral to pray for our suffering and persecuted brothers and sisters in Iraq & Syria.  We are inviting people to come and offer one hour before Jesus in the Eucharist, in prayer for this very urgent cause.  It is a special way to show our love and concern and ask God to bless our world with peace.  It will take place on Saturday, 4th October (Feast of St. Francis of Assisi) after 8.00 a.m. Mass to Sunday, at 8.00 a.m. All are very welcome!

Ballymoe FC:  As part of the Town of 1000 Beards Festival, Ballymoe FC are organising a RUN/WALK/CYCLE in Ballymoe on Bank Holiday Monday 27th October 2014.  More details later. Roscommon Branch Western Alzheimers: Church Gate Collection in aid of Western Alzheimers takes place on next weekend the 4th & 5th of October (Kilbegnet Church). Your support would be greatly appreciated.

 

Glenamaddy Ploughing Championships & Harvest Fair: Glenamaddy Community Development Co.will host the Glenamaddy Ploughing Championships & Harvest Fair, on Sunday, 5th October at the Equestrian Centre grounds and adjacent lands. The event will be the first official qualifier for next year's National Ploughing Championships and promises fun for all the family, plus a huge array of local produce and trade stands as well as music and dancing by Comhaltas. Glen Celtic:The FAI National Draw is just a couple of weeks away and tickets are currently available from club members. There are some outstanding prizes to be won including 4 Ford Fiesta cars with 2000 prizes in all, Tickets are €10 each with most of the money raised going directly back to the club. Any team interested in taking part in the Astro League is asked to get in touch with Pat McHugh immediately.

Irish Wheelchair Association: Fundraising run on Sat 20th Sept at 11am starting and finishing at Cuisle Holiday Centre, Donamon.Chip-timed 10k run or 6k walk/run. Registration on the day from 9.30. Runners for the 10k can register on www.runireland.ie or on the day. €15 for 10k run/ €10 for 6k walk/run. Family rate of €20 for the 6k. Sponsorship cards available from Cuisle. Refreshments and prizegiving afterwards in Cuisle. Technical T-shirts for all adult runners.


Change of Mass Times:The Joint PC meeting have approved the times for Sunday Mass, i.e. 10.00 a.m. in Glinsk, and 11.30 a.m. in Kilbegnet.  They also approved the Friday evening times for Masses, i.e. 7.00 p.m. in Kilbegnet, and 8.00 p.m. in Glinsk.

 

Adoration and Confession:The Joint PC meeting also approved the following: Before each Saturday night Vigil Mass, there will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 7.00 p.m. and there will be a priest available to hear confessions during the time of exposition. This Adoration and Confession opportunity will be in Glinsk for September and in Kilbegnet for October.The Vigil Mass time remains at 8.00 p.m.

 

Pastoral Council:A meeting of Glinsk Pastoral council will take place on this Tuesdaynight at 8.30pm in the Presbytery

 

Set  Ceili In Kilbegnet:  There will be a set ceili in St. Mary's hall, Kilbegnet on Friday night, 12th September 9.30 p.m. to 12.30 a.m.  Music by CDs.  All welcome!

 

Glinsk             Community Council: The next meeting of Glinsk Community Council takes place on this Wednesday night 10th Sept. at 9pm in the Community Centre.

 

Annual Cancer Mass:  The annual Mass for people who have survived cancer, those undergoing treatment, and those who have gone to their eternal reward, will be celebrated in the Glass Gable church in Knock, on Sunday, 14th September at 12.30 p.m.   

 

Sports: Thanks to all who helped out so wonderfully in making sure that Glinsk Sports was such an outstanding success.  Thanks to all who put in such an effort in preparing the field and in preparing the various activities.  Thanks also to all of our sponsors.  All those who participated in the Sports are invited to attend the next meeting of Glinsk Community Council in the Community Centre on Wednesday 10th Sept.

Sheepdog Trials:The International Sheepdog Trials take place from Friday September 12th to Sunday September 14th on the Hanley Family Farm at Kilbegnet. Qualifying competitions take place on Friday and Saturday and the Supreme Champion event takes place on Sunday. Competitions get underway each day at 8 am and run to 6 pm. Admission for adults is €10 and admission is free for under 16s. Entertainment available for all the family.

 

Fundraising Dance in Gannon’s Creggs on Saturday 13th September. Music by Elvis impersonator Greg Traynor.Proceeds go to Lourdes Invalid Fund and Cancer Care West. Raffle and spots on the night.Admission optional.
