Parish Notes  

Joint meeting of Kilbegnet and Glinsk Pastoral Councils: Sincere thanks to all who participated in the joint PC meeting, and to the ladies who prepared refreshments for the occasion.

Condolences to the Kelly family, Ardagh: Nora Kelly, daughter of Bridget Kelly, Ardagh passed away suddenly on Saturday, 23rd August in Galway hospital.  Her funeral Mass and burial in Ballinakill cemetery took place on Thursday, 28th August.  Sincere condolences to Bridget Kelly and the Kelly family.

 Holy Communion Rounds:  Fr. John will take Holy Communion to the sick and housebound in the Glinsk pastoral area on Thursday, 4th September at the usual times.  Please remember them all in your prayers.

Change of Mass Times: The Joint PC meeting have approved the times for Sunday Mass, i.e. 10.00 a.m. in Glinsk, and 11.30 a.m. in Kilbegnet.  They also approved the Friday evening times for Masses, i.e. 7.00 p.m. in Kilbegnet, and 8.00 p.m. in Glinsk.  Other time changes will be given later. Adoration and Confession: The Joint PC meeting also approved the following: Before each Saturday night Vigil Mass, there will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 7.00 p.m. and there will be a priest   available to hear confessions during the time of exposition.  This Adoration and Confession opportunity will be in Glinsk for September and in Kilbegnet for October.  The Vigil Mass time remains at 8.00 p.m.

Pastoral Council: A meeting of Glinsk Pastoral council will take place on Tuesday 9th Sept at 8.30pm in the Presbytery

Ballinakill Cemetery: Strimming takes place this Sunday 31st August at 12 noon. Rota: Enda Trayers, Kevin Collins, Ger Kelly, John Collins, Padraic Nolan, Stephen Brennan.

2014 Elphin Diocese Annual Pilgrimage to Knock: A special word of thanks to Aisling and Patrick Fitzmaurice, Strangeforth who were our youth representatives from this parish, in this pilgrimage. Well done, may God reward and bless you always.

Glenamaddy C.S. We are now taking applications for our Post Leaving Certificate Course (PLC) in Business Studies-5M2102-Level 5 for the academic year 2014-2015.  Modules include; Word Processing, Computer Applications, Payroll, Accounts, Desktop Publishing, Spread sheets, Marketing, Work Experience & Communications. Many of our students go directly into the world of work and increasing numbers progress to higher education opportunities.  Mature students & school leavers are welcome to apply.  Application forms are available from our school website: 

Sheepdog Trials: A meeting for stewards of the International Sheepdog Trials 2014 will be held in Kilbegnet Hall, Creggs on Thursday night next, September 4th at 9 pm. All welcome and all help over the three days of September 12th to 14th would be greatly appreciated.Thought for the dayThere are two days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called YESTERDAY and the other is called TOMORROW, so TODAY is the right day, to love, believe, do and mostly live.
