Parish Notes

Mothers’ Day:  Next Sunday 14th is Mothering Sunday. We will celebrate it at the Vigil & Morning Masses.

Priesthood:  A series of discussions on priesthood led by great presenters will take place in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon, starting March 9th (choice of times).  Very important in light of the changes we are undergoing.  Representatives of all Church groups and Parish Pastoral Councils are encouraged to participate. See Revisiting Priesthood leaflets in the Church porch for details.

Station House Masses:  If you are willing to host a Station Mass, please ring Donamon, leaving a name and telephone number.

Taking our Hearts to the Lord:  Lenten Scripture sharing prayer group will meet after Mass on Thursday nights in the Presbytery.  All are most welcome.

Haiti Appeal:  A social in aid of the victims of the recent Haiti Earthquake is being organised by local Glinsk groups and organisations.  The social will be held in the Glencastle Lounge on Saturday 13th March.  Requests for donations are being distributed to all families.  We hope all who can will donate generously.  Proceeds will go to the Gina Heraty Fund.

Pioneer Association:  Annual General Meeting this Sunday March 7th after 10.30 Mass.  All committee members please attend.  On Sunday March 14th Connaught PTAA annual afternoon of prayer will tale place in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, Knock from 3-6pm.  Glinsk School choir are providing the music and hymns on the occasion.  We are planning on booking a bus for the day so anybody interested in travelling please give names to any member of the our committee before Wed 10th.

 

The Roscommon/Athlone Regional PTAA:   Holding an afternoon of prayer in the Parish Hall, Kiltoom, Athlone on Sunday March 7th from 2.30pm to 5.00pm. Presented by Rev. T Clowe SDB.  Light refreshments will be served afterwards.  All are welcome.

The regions quiz competition is on Friday March 12th at Knockcroghery Community Centre at 7.30pm.  Teams of 4.  Under 13/under 16/young pioneer/senior teams to enter by March 7th must be members of centre.

Ladies Club:  Meeting on this Monday night March 8th in the Community Centre at 9pm.  All members please attend.  As our insurance is now due it is important that all membership fees are in at this meeting.

Glinsk Minor Ladies Football Team:  Congratulations to all involved on wining the minor D 2009 Championship Final Vs Micheal Breathnach’s on Sunday last.

Blood Donors:  The next local clinic is in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon.  Sunday March 7th 12.30-4.00pm; Monday March 8th 4.30-8.00pm and Tuesday March 9th 4.30-8.00pm.

Glenamaddy Community School Parents Association:  Would like to thank the members and the large number of people who attended the very successful seminar on “Health Initiative for Teenagers” which was held recently.  Thank you to Shane McGuire and Oliver King who gave a very informative talk.  Thank you also to James Duignan for the use of the school on the night.
